2019 is going to be busy

Advantage Geomatics has an active year in the making

Well, after the excesses of the festive season I’ve committed to some fund raising events and the further development of our Drone service that we have had running for about 8 months.

I have entered the Ride London event, basically the equivalent of the London Marathon on bikes, a 100 mile closed road ride that heads out of the capital into Surrey and back to finish on the Mall, I am riding for Asthma UK and am hoping to raise at least £1000 (but I’m sure that we can smash that figure!)

The training begins now and I will be documenting it on my social media feeds which can be found at the handle @advantagegeo wish me luck and click on the link below if you would like to sponsor me!

Also, this year, we are looking to further develop our Drone service and to achieve this we need to get more information out as to what the Drone is actually able to achieve.  Through regular blogs and social media updates we hope to be able demonstrate a variety of ways in which the information gathered and generated from this technique can be of benefit to clients and enhance the data that they already receive from us.

As part of this ongoing service development we have invested in a new drone which gives us more capability than we had before.  It is a Phantom 4 Pro which has a 20Mp camera, with a mechanical shutter and longer flight time per battery.  All of these and more additional features should allow us capture more data in greater detail.  Teamed up with the Pix4d photogrammetry processing software and Apps In Cadd n4ce survey package that we already utilise we can fully integrate all of our surveying services into one deliverable product.

We are looking to join various industry bodies this year with a view to improving our CPD internally and improve the quality checks that we carry out on each job.  All of this will be done with a view to improving the quality of our work and helping us to grow.

Good luck to everyone for 2019 and see you out there on site soon enough!
